In general i agree entirely with what K. represents as being van C.'s
views. Specifically, in matters of the Italian army being a joke, we knew this as kids, and it was confirmed when the first American officer to appear at our house, did so in a captured camouflaged Italian Fiat bug. And also those "think tanks" that push paper around.
I agree with Keuschnig that van C. is on dubious grounds in using the defeat of the IRA or the destruction of Syrian Hama as examples for the suppression of indigenously supported uprisings as a conqueror.
van C. seems not to understand that the US wins also by directly throwing loads of money at buyable entities such as the Sunnies in Anbar province, or the "Northern Alliance' in Afghanistan.!
In general: the shadow of the Roman empire and the other ancient empires and that drive casts a long and dark shadow.

Naja, das Beispiel mit der IRA fand ich schon interessant - aber der Kontrast mit Syrien und dem Vorgehens Assads ist schon arg gewöhnungsbedürftig. Vor die Wahl gestellt heisst das: Entweder wir machen ein perfekt rechtsstaatliches Verfahren - oder wir ignorieren alles und hauen einfach drauf. Ich glaube, dass Letzteres am Ende nicht funktioniert.
HIER gibt es ein Personen- und Sachverzeichnis dieses Weblogs. Es soll als zusätzliche Orientierungshilfe zu den "Ressorts" und der Suchfunktion dienen.
